Son of George & Fanny Simmonds, of 72 Chapel Street, Bicester. Brother of Thomas.

"News has been received by Mr George Simmonds, of Chapel Street, Bicester, that his son, Corporal Ralph Edward Simmonds, of the Royal Berks Regiment, has died in Salonika. He joined the army in February 1915, proceeding to Salonika in August of the same year, where he has been ever since. He was expected home on leave daily, his relatives having received a letter from him only on Monday last stated in effect that he should be home before Christmas. Corporal Simmonds was 33 years of age, and is the second member of his family to give his life in this war. His brother, Private Thomas Herbert Simmonds was killed in April, 1917. The illness from which Corporal Simmonds died was bronchial pneumonia and cardiac failure. One other brother is serving in France." Bicester Advertiser 20/09/1918
