"Mr and Mrs J. Powell, of 41, Sheep-street, have received official intimation concerning the death of their son Pte. Albert Powell, Army Ordnance Corps, which took place as the result of an explosion – of which they have no particulars – on May 16.
Pte. Powell joined the Army some two years ago, and had been through a course upon the subject of explosives, at Woolwich Arsenal, his work in France bearing entirely upon this subject, upon which he was considered an expert. He was a printer by trade, and served an apprenticeship in the office of this journal. He was 25 years of age." Bicester Herald 15/05/1917
