"News has been received by his sister of the death in hospital in France of Pte. William Harris, second son of the late Mr James Harris, horse slaughterer, of Sheep-street, Bicester. The information has been received from his chaplain and also from a comrade, and it is feared that little hope can be entertained that the information will prove unreliable. Both letters state that he was severely wounded on the Wednesday of last week, and died from the effects of his wounds on the following day. He was 43 years of age." Bicester Herald 22/06/1917
